Installation Guide
Install AEO Bob Lite on your WordPress site in under 2 minutes
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New and search for "AEO Bob Lite"
- Click Install Now, then Activate
- Or download it from wordpress.org/plugins/aeo-bob-lite
- AEO BOB now appears in your WordPress sidebar
Upgrading to Pro? Install the Pro ZIP from your purchase email. Your settings carry over.
Initial Configuration
Configure AEO Bob's settings to match your site's needs
- Open the AEO BOB menu in your WordPress sidebar (Welcome, Score Dashboard, Settings, Bulk Operations, FAQ & Help)
- For AI-written suggestions (optional in Lite), go to AEO BOB → Settings and add an API key for one AI provider
- Pro: choose your Primary AI Provider and model, then click Refresh Models. Lite uses OpenAI and picks the model for you
- Set your default writing voice (or leave it on Auto-detect)
- Open any post or page to see your scores and suggestions
Understanding Your Scores
Learn how the SEO, AEO, and Quality scores work and what each metric means
- SEO Score: classic search signals (title, meta, headings, links, length)
- AEO Score: how easily AI assistants can find, quote and trust your page (direct answers, FAQs, structured data)
- Quality Score (Pro): grammar, spelling, readability and voice
- Score Dashboard: every post and page in one table, with Rescore all
- Exclusions: skip system pages, noindex pages, poems or any category, tag or post you choose
AI Provider Setup (BYOK)
The free audit and Lite's scoring need no API key. AI-written suggestions use your own AI key: optional in Lite (OpenAI), and part of Pro (your choice of provider). You pay the provider directly.
- Go to AEO BOB → Settings. The API key section includes setup guidelines
- Lite uses OpenAI. Pro lets you choose OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google Gemini, Perplexity or Zhipu AI (GLM). Cohere coming soon.
- Get an API key from your chosen provider's dashboard
- Paste your API key and save. You pay the provider directly for usage
- Switch providers anytime with no vendor lock-in
Zhipu routes through infrastructure in China. Review data-residency needs before using it for sensitive content.
AI Suggestions and One-Click Apply (Pro)
Review AI rewrites section by section and apply them safely
- Get suggestions section by section: title and meta, headings, content, grammar and FAQs
- Review each one, then click Apply. AEO Bob only replaces the exact original text; if it can't find it, it skips safely
- Fix Voice keeps rewrites in your point of view
- Classic editor: after Apply, click Update. AEO Bob scrolls you to it
- Elementor: use the AEO Bob panel, then click Publish to update your scores

Best practices for getting discovered by ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity
- Write clear, direct answers in your introduction paragraph
- Use conversational language that matches how people ask questions
- Add comprehensive FAQ sections to every major page
- Implement schema markup for structured data (JSON-LD)
- Optionally turn on AI discovery in Settings to publish llms.txt and AI discovery links automatically. llms.txt is optional, low cost, an emerging standard some AI tools may read
- Use Notify AI Models after big updates
Troubleshooting
Solutions to common issues and how to resolve them
- Low AEO score: add a short direct answer near the top and an FAQ section
- "Could not locate original text": the page changed since the suggestion was made. Get fresh suggestions
- Scores not updating: save, update or publish the post, or use Rescore all on the Score Dashboard
- Unexpected text after applying suggestions: use Score Dashboard → Check for leaked AI notes, then restore a revision
- AI provider errors: check your API key, model and provider rate limits. Click Refresh Models
- Plugin conflicts: deactivate other plugins one by one
